I did it this way so I minimize myself brain farting and stinking up the shop. hmm.......The depth for these dowels is a few frog hairs more than 5/16". Not what I would have liked but I think it will be ok. Ideally I would have liked it to be at least 3/8". The top will be secured as will be the bottom shelf. That will help keeping it square and together. I've been thinking of maybe putting pocket screws in the back rails to help things out. Been thinking of getting another router because this one is awkward to use for this.
