Since launching CalAction, I always struggled with the idea of the in-app purchase. I'm a firm believer in the idea that software should be free to use, and that people should be able to use all of it without any barriers. I also believe that people should get the opportunity to support the development of software they use and like, within their own means. I no longer think the in-app purchase is the best model for me. A new version of CalAction is currently in review that removes that barrier to entry and makes the entire app and all its features free to use. I've been playing with this idea in my head for a long time. It's been a struggle trying to figure out when to do this because I don't want to make it seem like I'm not grateful for all the sales I've had so far. I think a good way of looking at it is that the in-app purchase was in a way a donation with some added benefits.
