My mastodon wishlist

This is my 12th blog post for the Blaugust 2026 community blogging project. Join me all this month for more blogging. I love the Mastodon social messaging service. I’m a big fan of the open-source, non-corporate, federated design. Design aside, social networks only work if you can make social connections. I’ve found enough people who share my interests and outlook that it works for me. I’ve even made a few real-life friends. That said, there are some things I wish it did differently. I think some of these things would make the Mastodon experience even better. I use Mastodon through its web interface – even on mobile. There are mobile apps available that may address some of my issues, but that’s not how I use Mastodon. I think putting some of this into core would improve the Mastodon experience.
