Neil Young - Letter From ‘NamOver on Uncut this month, I wrote a little overview of Neil Young’s “lost” albums — many of which have been “found” since the last time I did this kind of thing. Semi-miraculously, you can buy official versions of such previously mythical records as Homegrown, Oceanside / Countryside, Chrome Dreams, Toast and so forth. But you can’t buy Letter from 'Nam! Here’s a quick rundown from the Uncut piece: A few years later and a lot of water under the bridge, Neil was casting about for a follow-up to his blockbuster Harvest. He had something ambitious in mind: Letter from ‘Nam, a concept album of sorts that dealt with the fallout from the then-still-raging Vietnam War. In Young’s Archives, there’s a scrawled tracklisting for this still-unreleased collection featuring such tunes as “Lookout Joe”, “Goodbye Christians On The Shore”, “Come Along and Say You Will” and beyond.
