Home theatre upgrades for gaming 0 ▲ What's up with James? 27 minutes ago · Tech · hide · 0 comments After my OLED TV was returned after being repaired (LG should have just given me a new one as it would have been cheaper for them - it was still under the 5 year warranty) I decided it was time to invest in some better speakers. The TV speakers aren't terrible, despite what some will say about those on flat screens, but with so many films mastered for surround sound systems, dialogue is increasingly lost in the mix. Games, possibly because of the comparatively dynamic nature, don't struggle the same way, plus they always have settings for not only stereo but also different sized audio setups. Soundbars appear to be the most straight forward way of upgrading the system, but it turns out that is only really the start. I initially planned to just get a decent enough soundbar, naively believing the marketing that this singular piece of hardware would actually deliver not only virtual surround sound, but also Dolby Atmos.
