2026-08-13Hello!As I write this, I am surrounded by many people on their screens. Playing mobile games. Watching vertical videos. I've been toiling away at this website for hours, writing articles and queuing them up to lead to these five photographs of the drained creek.I was surprised when I got here. I've been here multiple times before, and every time, the creek was full and sometimes overflowing into the trail. Wooden boards were set up for people to balance on if the soil had turned into sludge and mud.There was no use for them now; everything was dry. Yesterday, I wrote that I caught tadpoles and frogs in this creek years ago. I brought little fishnets and scooped up a section of the creek to see what I had caught. Now, I could have just walked into it to stand on dusty land.Finally, baldio: abandoned land. In central Portugal, a forest of trees recovering from wildfires is getting support from the Ecosia tech company. They're planting chestnut and pine trees to cope for both…
