Freedom Tower and Plane – New York, New York My wife and I headed to Lower Manhattan from Chelsea. Our destination was the 9/11 Memorial & Museum. While I continued using the Leica D-Lux 8, I also began shooting more with the Leica M 246 Monochrom. Near the museum’s entrance, I framed One World Trade Center, also known as the Freedom Tower. It is the most iconic building on the site, replacing the original Twin Towers. I initially took the picture simply because I appreciated the building’s striking geometry. However, the airplane passing through the frame completely changed its meaning. If you know the history of the September 11 attacks, you’ll understand why.
