. ‘Reading Magazines’ day at St Bride Foundation at part of the London Design Festival in September The programme for Reading Magazines: 300 Years of Magazine Evolution is now in place. The event is being organised by Steve Watson at Stack Magazines and will take place at the legendary St Bride Foundation, just off Fleet Street, on Friday 18 September. This is part of the London Design Festival over two weeks across the capital. The speakers will examine three centuries of magazines, from The Gentleman’s Magazine – the first periodical to call itself a magazine, according to Dr Johnson’s Dictionary – through an elite media suppressed by stamp duties and then a century of mass media, to the fabulous landscape of today’s multifarious independent magazines amid the bottomless pit of digital media.
