Windmills at North Cape, PEI 0 ▲ misterchrisjones.ca | All posts 24 minutes ago · Nature · hide · 0 comments North Cape is the northernmost point of Prince Edward Island and sticks out into the Gulf of St. Lawrence. That makes it an excellent place to plunk down a bunch of windmills and the Wind Energy Institute of Canada. I had never visited the west side of the island so a friend and I made our way up there on a long-weekend-for-me road trip. It was mostly quiet up there thankfully but there was a wedding party taking photos and a bus load of tourists which basically describes many parts of the Maritimes in the summer. It was an overcast day so the colours are a bit dull and washed-out but you still get a sense of the red cliffs and clear ocean water. The windmills in the distance blend into the cloudy sky but I think that’s a good thing, wind, sky, and clean energy technology all together. Sure beats the coal and gas-burning plants we’re addicted to in these parts belching out their clouds of pollution.
