APHEX TWIN Pic by: Steve Double Dangerous Didgeridoo Aphex Twin I DON’T know, some bloody odd trends crop up in the wondrous world of techno. A recent one has been the use of that amazing aboriginal wind instrument, the didgeridoo. Yothu Yindi, the first minute of E Lustrious, that thing on red vinyl by Martin Lever, and now the ultimate tribute: ‘Didgeridoo’ by The Aphex Twin on Belgium’s R & S techno label. The original white label version weighed in at a truly incredible 155 bpm to the applause of techno-rave pundits lucky enough to snap up a copy. The Aphex Twin is 20 year old Richard James, a recent arrival to London from Cornwall. So come on Richard, why the Australian windy theme? “I don’t know really, it just came about over the summer to quench the audience’s need for something completely mad.
