Saguaro and Cholla - Superstition Wilderness, Arizona Yesterday, it reached 112 degrees in Tempe. The low was 86. That is about as good as it gets this week. 🥵 I know. It's the desert, what do I expect? But the high temperatures seem to be getting higher and the lows remain brutally high. The past several summers have been so hot, for so long, that the iconic Saguaro cactus is struggling to survive 🌵. There are other factors (man-made) that aren't helping, but increasing temperatures are the primary culprit. But, no worries all is good. Lake Powell, the source of water and electricity for millions of people, is at its lowest levels in history. Not a problem. Phoenix is growing. Adding suburbs, man-made lakes, and golf courses at an astonishing pace. I’m sure it will be fine. Water will continue to magically appear. 💦 I do not understand society’s flippant attitude toward our planet 🌎 , our environment, and the climate.
