Richard Thompson has a new album coming out in a couple months — Hippies, Thugs and Heroes. The first single is “Cocaine Walking, Booze Talking” and as that title suggests, it’s a pretty serious rocker. Richard wrote a song called “Old Man Inside A Young Man” more than 50 years ago, but it seems like it’s the reverse for him these days. While we wait to hear the rest of Hippies, Thugs and Heroes, we can check out A Solitary Life, a career-spanning-til-then RT BBC documentary from the early 2000s that features interesting interviews from various Fairporters, Linda Thompson and many more. And it’s narrated by none other than Radio 1 legend John Peel. Some cool footage in there, especially some pro-shot stuff of Richard and Linda at the 1975 Cambridge Folk Festival that I don’t think has appeared elsewhere? Let’s see the whole…
