The forgotten part of being a solo game dev 0 ▲ Recursive Call 44 minutes ago · Tech · hide · 0 comments Every team needs at least three people. The code person, the data person, and the manager. As a solo dev, I’m all three. And up until now, I had completely forgotten/ignored to be the manager. There was no schedule. No plan. No list of tasks organized by type and priority and estimated time to complete. I would boot up my project, write a bunch of JSON files, and meanwhile keep procrastinating the fact that I hadn’t even added a way to load them yet. I was writing data for classes I hadn’t even made an implementation plan for yet. Total disaster. And this was while I was already on my SECOND rewrite of this project. So yeah, it’s time to go manager mode. If you need me, I’ll be with my spreadsheets. No comments yet. Log in to reply on the Fediverse. Comments will appear here.
