Summer Evening London Stroll from the City to the West End 0 ▲ the lost byway 27 minutes ago · Life · hide · 0 comments The daily heat was determining my walking plans, but it also nudged me towards one of my favourite activities that takes me back to the origins of this blog in Summer 2004 – to stroll through the centre of London being guided by my instincts, drawn into alleyways, exploring the topography of an area re-built over for millennia. And this stroll exceeded expectations. Not matter how many times I traverse the area between Liverpool Street and Soho I still have my eyes opened to a new London, to quote Greil Marcus “encountering the unknown facets of the known, innocence in the face of experience”. Wandering into Gunpowder Square it felt like a new corner of the City for me. Then slowly I remembered the nightwalk, 1st July 2004 when I approached the same location but from Wine Office Court and that was an early post on this blog, written up when I arrived home that night.
