first one doneChecking that the depth is 3/8" deep on each one. helperThis spans the two rods of the vise and I set the narrow rails on top of it. Solid base to chop the mortises on.oopsI was being careful, taking teeny whacks so I wouldn't do this. Didn't help as I still split the outside face from the left corner of the mortise to the end and halfway past the mortise on the right. I guess I was lucky because of the four rails, this was the only split I had to fix.mortising half doneI was getting quicker the more mortises I chopped. Finished the two narrow rails and started on the tall boy rails.After I had chopped the tall boy mortises, I checked all of them were at the same depth. It wasn't so boys and girls. The combo square had slipped from 3/8" to a 1/4". I had to deepen 9 mortises to get them to at least 3/8". hmm......The vertical slats are a frog hair less than a 1/2" thick. I can two slats out this 6/4 board (actual 1 3/8"). I should be able to get all ten from this one…
