I wanted to wait because, even on the non-IMAX screen, the visuals blew me away. The scale of the set pieces was fantastic. But Nolan's interpretation is measured; grown-up, and at times somber. Stories told, in flashback, by an unreliable narrator. Weaving his own questionable decision making through that of Gods and Monsters. Being the sole survivor returning to his kingdom to deal with one of the most base human traits. Greed. Nolan side-steps the typical "sword & sandals" approach with questions of realism. What would it be like, crammed into a wooden statue for days? What tricks does being stuck in the doldrums play on men running out of food at sea? The realisation that you are responsible for the abandonment of something you held dear...Xenia. Zeus's Law of hospitality. This isn't my favourite Nolan film, but it's up there.
