Review by Sandre the Giant Released: 20th February 2026 French avantgarde death metallers Aabode have released their second record, ‘Hyper-Death’, two years after their debut album ‘Neo-Age’. Their debut was an interesting mix of avantgarde elements, industrial and electronic, alongside proggy and dissonant death metal that I really didn’t spend enough time with. Their new one seems to take that concept and dive bomb to the strangest and most esoteric depths with it. It is out now through Godz Ov War Productions. Opener ‘This Abode Has People In It’ hits you with that avantgarde immediately, with squalling electronics and manic guitar, a melancholic croon into a cavernous roar when the industrialised death metal comes rolling through.
