Just a quick message that we were not affected by this weekend's flooding in Indianapolis. 0 ▲ Down the Road 1 hour ago · Life · hide · 0 comments In case you were wondering, my wife and I are unaffected by the flooding that happened in Indianapolis over the weekend. We live far enough west of the White River in this city that the rising waters couldn’t touch us. We live on a tributary to the White River called Williams Creek. I walked out my back door Friday afternoon (before peak water level) and made this photo. This is as high as I’ve ever seen the creek — but it’s still probably 25 feet below us in a ravine. Some are comparing this to the Great Flood of 1913, as least as pertains to Indiana. That 1913 flood affected several states, especially Ohio and Indiana. A great number of flood-control projects followed over the next century, and it’s my impression that all of that work paid off over the last weekend here in Indianapolis. This could have been a lot worse. No comments yet. Log in to reply on the Fediverse. Comments will appear here.
