On Sundays I try to at least quickly note some of my favorite listening from the week prior — things I would later regret having not written about in more depth, so better to share here briefly than not at all. ▰ A characteristically deep and enveloping solo live set by Dave Seidel, aka Mysterybear, recorded in Manhattan at Waterworks 2026: Festival of Experimental Sound back in April. Absolutely drone-tastic. ▰ A quintet lead by bassist Reza Askari plays super still chamber jazz, featuring Lina Allemano (trumpet), Stefan Karl Schmid (tenor saxophone), Christopher Dell (vibraphone), and Fabian Arends (drums).
