“Short guy syndrome” describes the tendency for men with short heights to overcompensate with more aggression, dominance, and loudness. It’s true that other people may treat you differently when you grow up short than when you grow up tall; perhaps that conditions you to behave a certain way. At some point though, when you reach adulthood, it’s your responsibility. You’re responsible for your behavior. Even if you’re shorter than average (say, 5’6”, like me), you can practice assurance, calm, and abundance any time you like. You can also change your circumstances. For example, instead of listening to music that makes you feel angry, you can listen to calming songs. Your height—or wealth, gender, or cultural background—don’t have to determine how your life goes. These qualities, like the most important ones, are available to everyone.
