The Coventry Beer & Pubs Day Out

I headed to Coventry on the 12th August, a day when the city was sweltering in 33° heat and the news was full of excitement about how many people would damage their eyesight looking directly at that evening's partial eclipse of the sun.We were in Coventry for Life After Football's summer holiday curated West Midlands pub crawl (ably assisted by Retirement Martin's itinerary advisory service).There would be Bass. And there would be the rogue diversions from the original plan.After a delayed arrival on Cross Country (no, really...) I headed to the Golden Cross just before their 11:30 opening time. Stafford Paul was banging on the door waiting patiently outside, having already made a first pub visit of the day prior to this.
