Social media delight Jason Lefkowitz (https://hachyderm.io/@jalefkowit) posted this 1989 album commercial on his feed and it instantly made me smile. I miss the days of when these commercials from K-Tel and similar ventures came up on the television. So much better than pharmaceutical commercials for things like Pookickspoo. As a dork back in the day (and still a dork today!) I enjoyed these commercials for a couple of reason. They gave me a playlist for my next mixtape, I usually enjoyed the featured songs (though I never really got into Nana Mouskouri), and the production values were interesting to me. As the artist and track list of the package scrolls by, the song being featured at that moment scrolls by at just the right time. There’s no adjustment of speed of the scroll or anything.
