2026-W33: Eclipse 0 ▲ LostFocus 1 hour ago · Writing · hide · 0 comments Just like everyone else in this part of the world, I wanted to see the eclipse last Wednesday. Given that my living room windows face directly toward the sun around the time of the eclipse, I decided to just do that from home. Alas there is a tree in the way and all I saw was a sunset.Turns out it was still a good decision: the big viewing point was overrun with people and when everybody wanted to leave, a pensioner (allegedly) mixed up the pedals in his car and ploughed right into a group of pedestrians. I could see the emergency services work late into the night. For some reason I decided to bring a cake, so this morning I did a bit of baking. I haven’t done this in a long time and I clearly did not prepare well – I forgot that my mixer is broken and I didn’t buy milk. So I had to go on a little mission to find milk (which is harder than it sounds unless you’ve been to “stores are closed on Sunday” countries) and then did all the mixing by hand with a whisk.
