A child was crying because she does not want to attend piano lessons. The mother was trying to console her, telling her that when the mother was a child, she did not have the chance to learn music. Therefore, the child should be grateful for the opportunity. I have heard such stories all my life. I have friends who grow up packed full of activities. Monday is art lesson, Tuesday is swimming lesson, Wednesday is piano etc. Where is the childhood? The grownups would just all say kids nowadays are not grateful. But did the grownups actually pay any attention to the kids? I understand that nearly all of us would grow up feeling unfulfilled and did not have the chance to experience certain things. This creates a gap within us, and we hope that our children can achieve it on our behalf. I have that gap within myself as well. However, I do my best to let my children live the way they want to live. My happiness is not their happiness. A mother grew up dreaming of playing the piano, her child…
