Singapore at the ASEAN Cup

In about 20 minutes, Singapore’s national football team faces Thailand. Winners of their group games, Thailand’s War Elephants pose an immense challenge to Singapore. This first leg of the semi-finals of the ASEAN Cup, held at home at the Jalan Besar Stadium is crucial for Singapore. While we last won Thailand in 2012, there is a lot of hope and belief among Singapore fans. I’ve been really glad to spot so many residents sporting the new Singapore national jersey, which I never used to see. I got one too, and that’s saying something for someone who does not own any jersey. As an aside, after the World Cup, I thought of getting the jersey of Spain’s national team. But it occured to me that if I don’t have the jersey of my own country, if I don’t support my own country’s sporting journey through wins and losses, then I would be a hypocrite.
