How do you compare something when your point of comparison is based on nostalgia?

I “finished” Kirby and the Forgotten Land in July, having started it shortly after it released back in 2022. I remember looking forward to it back then. The last Kirby game I had played before this was Kirby: Planet Robobot (also around the time it released, in 2016), which most people would agree was a pretty good game. I wouldn’t call myself a massive Kirby fan, despite owning a bunch of plushies and other merch, playing all the games during the DS and 3DS era, preferring to play as Kirby in Super Smash Bros, and my email address I created in primary school being inspired by Kirby because I used to pretend I was Kirby when playing with a kindergarten friend (the weird part about this is that I’m pretty sure I’ve never actually played a Kirby game back then, so no idea how this happened).
