I use a bunch of email addresses; you should too. Here’s the mutt config that works nicely: alternates "main(\\+[^@]+)?@randomstring.org" alternates "main(\\-[^@]+)?@randomstring.org" alternates "foobar@baz.com" alternates "foo@bazab.org" // more alternates that don't fit patterns go here set from="mainaccount@randomstring.org" set realname="Human Readable Name" set reverse_name The first block (alternates) gives email addresses and patterns that might be used to send email to me that could arrive here. If one of those appears in the To: or Cc: or Bcc: fields of a message that I’m replying to, reverse_name will use it as my From: address. The other two veriables set the default From. My mailserver supports arbitrary -extensions and +extensions. Yours might support one or both. -30-
