…aaaand inevitably, my plans go out of the window… As I mentioned at the end of July, I had made a modest pile of books for August’s Women in Translation Month, and for two titles I’ve stuck to my plans. However, I saw mention online (I think via a Penguin newsletter) of new editions of fictions by Angelica Gorodischer, and I recalled that I had an earlier copy which came as a review book from the publisher when they were launching a little sci fi series (back in 2020!!). The books is called “Trafalgar”, translated by Amalia Gladhart; and having sat on Mount TBR for far too long, it was the perfect time to drag it off for WIT. I’m not sure how much attention I was paying when the book arrived (this *was* in the pandemic days), but a quick look at the blurb was enough to intrigue me this time round. Gorodischer was an Argentinian author whose work crossed genres, often with a feminist slant, and she sadly died in 2022 at the age of 93. Born in Buenos Aires, she spent most of her life…
