Before the cast of The Office started filming an episode, they worked in the office for half an hour. Rather, they acted like they were working; passing each other notes, making fake phone calls, and sending emails. This behavior made the actors feel like they were actually at work. When the director started shooting a scene, they didn’t say, “Action.” They said, in a calm tone, “Go ahead.” You don’t need to get in character when you’re already in character.
