Someone found the zsh bug I was experiencing without knowing

Since Apple forced me to migrate to zsh as my default shell1, I have noticed that every now and then I lose part of my command history. I am sure I ran the command in the morning, and in the afternoon going up, up and up in the terminal would not find it, but would find older commands. Well, Michael Stapelberg not only found the bug I was experiencing, but he also shared how he debugged it (low level debugging with notify and bpftrace, which I haven’t touch in a while) and even evaluated how different AI models fare in this task.
