I know this question creates a challenge for some of us: a blind spot in our self-perception. How can I know what I’m good at without realizing it? And why on earth should that even matter? As for the latter: If you find something that comes easily to you, then you’ve found something where you can easily get into the flow. Chances are pretty good that a job in that area will never really feel like work to you. Regardless of that, it can help you with recurring communication problems and, well, simply with coping a bit better with everything as a human being. And one way you can figure that out (if you don’t already know) is to ask yourself the following question: What’s one thing you do effortlessly and without thinking, but that other people find difficult? If you find yourself struggling with this question, it’s probably because of the frames you unconsciously use as a yardstick—the mental models and beliefs you use to make sense of yourself.
