Wilder Frome

This morning was the quarterly meeting of the Discover Dursley group. A smaller meeting due to a lot of people on summer holidays, but productive as there is always so much to catch up on with all the events and activities around the town. In the afternoon, I headed over to the cricket club for a Wilder Frome citizen science event. This is a project of the Severn Rivers Trust to remove 100 or so fish barriers along the Frome. The focus of the day was to showcase all the opportunities for people to get involved in citizen science in the catchment. I went to assist Kai’a in demonstrating riverfly monitoring to groups. There was a nice easy footbridge access to the Frome next to the cricket pitch and we could set up the sample trays on the bridge itself. We planned for two groups. The first was around 10 people and 4 in the second group. This includes some children who are always good to engage in the activity.
