River confluences are always places with a bit of magic, and the magic felt strong here where the Salmon joins the Snake. We spent a beautiful evening and morning here through changing phases of light: deep shade, warm afternoon light filtered through the smoky glow of fiery 21st Century western summer, and a spotlight as the rising sun shone straight down the Salmon canyon. This is a place where I would love to spend much more time in different seasons, though it’s not particularly easy to access.
