I had an email today from the roaster I buy coffee from, with their new price list for September. The decaf I’ve been enjoying for around a year is going to rise by around 35%. Thankfully I get a 10% discount and a loyalty cashback which actually keeps this rise closer to 20%, but it’s still made me think about whether I’m getting the best deal. I don’t get through a lot of coffee, so I avoiding spending too much because otherwise it goes stale before I finish the bag. However, I always buy a kilo as it’s much better value. The decaf I’ve been drinking for about a year now is The CoffeeWorks Milk Chocolate & Caramel Decaf. It’s a very pleasant, Swiss-water decaffeinated, single-origin coffee and easy to make a decent brew with using my Sage Barista Touch machine. Currently I pay £29.03 per kilo - the new, discounted price will be £34.93. I used to drink We Are Coffee’s San Lorenzo decaf, which was about the same price, but interestingly is now considerably cheaper at under £25 per kg…
