It seems like ages since my last race way back in June. Our club's July event happened to fall on my partner's birthday and I decided to spend the day with her instead of in the hot July sun playing racecars. But it's August now1, and our club hosted our seventh event of the 2026 season on Saturday. We took on a challenging course which made full use of the stadium parking lot's workable surface (and really pushed the wireless timing system to its line-of-sight limits). I struggled to put down a good time - but my SSC competitor also struggled with putting in a clean lap. When we broke for lunch, I was leading the class with a 47.285 compared to his 45.529+1. When we returned for the afternoon session, he jumped in front with a 47.130, and then I regained the lead by putting down a 47.015. It was pretty exciting! Of course, he then managed to drop almost a full second and got down to 46.323. I only shaved a few thousandths and ended with a time of 47.006 on my fifth run. I totally…
