Review: Man of Sorrows – Inexistence in Existence

Review by Sandre the Giant Released: 12th January 2026 The newest EP from atmospheric funeral doom project Man of Sorrows was actually released all the way back in January, but I missed it then because I get a hundred emails a day. But, in my sweaty, heat enraged state of mind recently I have been looking for something to cool the synapses and what better than Brazilian funeral doom designed for winter? ‘Inexistence in Existence’ is out now self released, and deals with how we conflate our physical state with our inevitable feelings of the internal emptiness of life. Cheery! Two tracks, almost twenty five minutes of funeral doom sounds perfect for my misery in these heatwave conditions, and Man of Sorrows is full of unadulterated, sodden darkness. The mesmerising title track starts us with undulating ambience and a lonely melody drifting through this shrouding fog. A guitar cuts through, carving a weeping wound across the darkness before the weight of this inexistence comes crashing…
