Poems as wayfinding 0 ▲ with words, wonder 53 minutes ago · Writing · hide · 0 comments When I look at a painting, or read a poem, or a story, I feel like I am entering a new world, one created by the artist, the writer, to evoke a particular feeling, to highlight something meaningful, to document a moment, and for many other reasons too.I love the feeling of building a world in my mind when I engage with a work of art: the scenery in a novel or a poem, for example, or of the images in a painting that come together to help me understand a moment in time. I love when one work opens my mind to something else; when I read one novel and realise I want to explore the genre more, or when I realise I love the style of an artist and I feel motivated to learn about the time in which they were painting.As web weavers, we can build worlds, too.Stories, poems, paintings, songs, photographs – all of the arts – can help us find our way, to discover something, to navigate and explore moments in time.
