Prompt 1: Admit something you’ve never (or rarely) confessed to anyone… Once a week for the next few weeks I’m planning on working through Nina Karnikowski’s box of prompts to keep me writing. (See here for an explanation ) And my heart sank when I drew this prompt. I am usually an open book, but I knew exactly what I hated admitting to myself, let alone others. I have once wanted with all my heart to scream my head off at someone else’s child. I have never felt rage like it towards another human being. Let alone a minor. I hate confessing this and haven’t done so often only because of the act of remembering the pain and blind fury is deeply uncomfortable. My son was five years old. It is a fifteen year old memory now. He had started going to afterschool care and mixing with older kids. He came home one day so happy that they let him see their game of Beyblades. For days he asked for a special top he could use. His little face was so happy when we went to the toy shop and got it. The…
