weekend report for 2026-08-09

I had a productive weekend! Which was on purpose, since I knew that next weekend will be a bit hectic and then I'm taking a week in Hawaii (!!) with family and friends. I knew that this would be the last time in a while that I would have to kind of just do whatever I wanted, and it also coincided with a crazy hot weather time in Los Angeles so it worked out. the carI got a car recently — a 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid. very petit bourg of me, I know. But I am fortunate enough to afford it and I had spent about two years without a car in los angeles, which was an… interesting challenge, let's say, but I figured I should get something I really wanted. I've had a couple cars in the past, and both were "as cheap as we could get" used options — a mid-90s Hyundai Accent (got for about $1500 on craigslist) and a 2004 toyota camry ($4k on craigslist).
