Weekly digest 70

Happenings I got back from my holiday yesterday, and I’ll have more to say about that tomorrow. Today was a really nice day. I went out for coffee and breakfast with a friend who now lives in Italy but was in the area visiting family. Then my dad surprised me by setting us up to go for a walk with our former dog this afternoon. We had him for 9 years. Then we had a kid, and he didn’t cope with the change, so we rehomed him to a very good home with someone my parents could vouch for. We hadn’t seen him for four years, but we took him for a walk around the cemetery. For a now 14+ year old dog, he’s doing very well. Stone deaf,[1] but otherwise in very good health — still active, healthy joints, and so on. And it was so wonderful to hear his new owners affectionately talk about his little ways and habits we knew so well. To be able to walk with him, and even let our eldest son walk him, was a real joy.
