MelGeek Centauri 80 keyboard review

What do we have here? Aluminum chassis Leaf spring suspension Wired only Programmable polling to 8KHz Hall effect 75%, although MelGeek calls it 80% South-facing, heavily lensed LEDs Four stored profiles Web configurator Side and back decorative LEDs Some gimmicky controls This is a keyboard that I keep coming back to. It’s one of my favorites, maybe my most favorite one. For me, the attraction is the leaf suspension system and how that makes typing feel fluid. I pair it with mostly ceramic keycaps, which you’d think would negate the softer bottom-out that you get with leaf-spring boards, but for me results in a marvelous combination of crispness, a nice clean thock, and a fluid tactile experience. It’s a board aimed at gamers, and I’m not a gamer. It’s got features that seem mostly like gimmicks to me.
