Heatwave No. ???

I think I’ve lost count of how many we’ve had now. When I started writing this, it was 3pm and 30°C (86°F for you folks across the pond). There’s the lightest of breezes, but it’s coming from the south, so no relief to speak of. I’ve always loved summer, but this really is too much. The overnight temps are regularly staying in the late teens, which means the bedrooms are mid-20s, though luckily that hasn’t been the case this week. With the high humidity, it’s unbearable. Upstairs windows are kept open all night, but I need blackout blinds up as I hate being woken by the sun really early. Oh, and the sodding mosquitoes, though thankfully they only appeared for a few days and seem to have buggered off now. I have no idea where they are breeding as everything is so dry, even the local ponds are practically gone. Next week is supposed to bring 34°C and 19°C at night. Ugghhh….. Perhaps we should have a last minute getaway. To Iceland. July was the driest since records began. Many areas saw…
