This summer has felt hotter than previous summers we’ve experienced since moving to Tucson over five years ago. I’m definitely feeling the effects of what I call “reversed SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder)”. I’m feeling a little ‘trapped’, for lack of a better word. I’ve never liked the feeling of sunscreen on my skin, so I opt to just stay out of the sun during the particularly crispy parts of the day. When it comes to my personal discomfort I find the sun a little more menacing than the heat. UV ratings above 13 are just something I was never really built for. I know, I could have much worse problems to deal with. I use the term “reversed SAD” because these types of seasonal mood symptoms are usually noted with people that live in northern climates and how it affects their moods during the darker winter months. I used to experience that when we lived in Upstate New York, especially as an adult, though it was mentioned as a ‘holiday slump’ on my 5th grade report card in 1979. Feeling…
