What's been happeningI flew back to Seattle this week for AWS Heroes Summit, 2026. I've been an AWS Hero since 2018 and the Heroes Summit is probably the best time to meet and chat with fellow Heroes - apart from re:Invent (though re:Invent is on another level by itself). Even before the trip had started, I had goofed up - I had booked my Hotel starting August 2nd, 2026 but the flights were for August 3rd. Knowing that hotels are likely to charge for no-show or at worse, risk a cancellation, I immediately sent an email to the hotel letting them know I won't be checking in till August 3rd. Soon enough, I got a response from them acknowledging they've changed the booking.My flight to Seattle was via LAX and I was hoping on this leg at least, I've have broken the curse of LAX. Sigh, how wrong I was. The outbound flight was on American Airlines, and it was pretty nice. I had the newer plane with slightly wider, more roomy seat, so it wasn't uncomfortable.
