I worked some retail job when the iPhone 3g came out. Along with it came a bunch of novelty apps. Funny stuff like drinking a beer by tilting the phone. My manager purchased the phone and showed it off to me. He installed an app that showed the weather and also displayed the "feels like" temperature. I don't know how to describe the way he showed it off through text, but he had this distinct pride in his voice. As if he alone was the reason for this new functionality, that somehow by purchasing and installing this app he willed the existence of "feels like" temperature feature. (Note we all did not have constant access to the internet at this point in history). I thought of retorting "but you didn't do anything", but I did not feel like yucking his yum. It's just so weird (to me). Later, at the same job, a different coworker talked about their favourite (ice) hockey team. "We won" he proclaimed with the same pride(?). And again the same thought popped up. But you didn't do anything.…
