City Architecture Forum Issues Self-Serving Tract Mythologising 1990’s Square Mile Local Authority “Leader” Michael Cassidy’s Support For Overdevelopment

There are a number of property developer lobby groups covering the City of London and while this blog has mentioned the likes of the City Property Association (CPA), it hasn’t to date dealt with the City Architecture Forum (CAF). Like New London Architecture (NLA), the CAF likes to promote itself as a ‘neutral’ operation, despite both organisations being City council allies (perhaps even proxies) lobbying for overdevelopment in the square mile (and in the case of NLA beyond the City too). The CAF ‘celebrated’ its 35th anniversary last month by launching a slim staple bound pamphlet bylined to former City of London council ‘leader’ Michael Cassidy. The self-serving and bombastic nature of the short text can be gleaned from Cassidy’s description of it as a ‘book’ on a LinkedIn post he made about the launch: This week I launch my book “Something in the City”.
