Reviewing The Faith of Beasts by James S.A. Corey

The Captive’s War is no Expanse, but I’m enjoying this new series by James S.A. Corey all the same. Maybe it’s because I’m reading these books as they’re published rather than binging the first few installments back-to-back, but the characters at the center don’t feel nearly as fleshed out as the crew of the Rocinante. I appreciate how rather than an insanely convoluted gotcha, the twist had hints planted throughout book 1 that astute readers (and redditors) are able to catch on to. Similar to The Expanse, the novellas add depth to the world without being necessary to enjoy the main series. While I won’t be writing home about these, I will keep reading!
