The advice for creatives who want to 'earn' is to pick a niche and then suck that well dry. If you don't want to do that? Then the advice is that creativity doesn't need to earn you money and you should do it for the fun of it. The problem is I want to have my cake and eat it to. I shouldn't have to compromise on having one without the other. Yes, I probably would enjoy myself somewhat if I was earning enough to make a living for my creativity, but if I'd picked a specific niche, I would eventually feel creatively bankrupt. Similarly, if I was creating for the fun of it, it's likely that life would take hold and unfortunately, if you're needing money, your priorities are different than trying to do the bit of creativity you're doing for fun. Perhaps I'm being overly cynical about it. After all, I've had such a fear of failure, it's not like I've truly committed to trying to do it for money or love. I… No comments yet.
