First it was Sony’s announcement that they’d be phasing out discs for their games completely, and then it was their doubling down on this straight from an out-of-touch suit, saying something along the lines of, “This is what gamers want.” Because nobody knows the thoughts and feelings of regular people more than executives who do nothing for the development of platforms for gaming aside from sit around and collect profits. And now it’s Rockstar, instead of advertising their next game like a normal company, they’re “releasing” footage on Netflix, i.e., an ad you have to pay for. Someone at Rockstar’s boardroom said, “We can get people to pay for ingame currency. That’s no problem. We can even get them to pay egregious prices for our games, and weapon skins, and everything in-between (I’m assuming this is the route they’ll likely take in Grand Theft Auto 6)!
