Unbroadcasting

POSSE, in the IndieWeb world, stands for Publish (on your) Own Site, Syndicate Elsewhere. It’s the idea that you post content to your own site first and then post copies or share links on other sites (for example, social media). I like that as a concept, but sometimes I want my site to be the only place for the content, and I don’t necessarily want to share it everywhere. One, I don’t want to feel like I have to broadcast everything I post here. Two, there are lots of times I’m tired of social media. I don’t want the effort of cross-posting (even if it’s only a small effort at a time). But sometimes, I still feel like, I should share a post everywhere. It’s out of habit. Instead, I am trying to train myself out of feeling like I need to update social media. I’m trying to let go of feeling that I should be posting consistently, at a certain frequency. This is a personal site and whatever I share for art and zines are hobbies. None of this is part of a business or for an income. So I…
